1. The Bible declares to be the only Word of God (Revelation 22:18)  In John 14:6, Jesus declares to be the only way to Heaven.
  1. The Bible also shows us that it is the Word of God by Prophecies that have been predicted and have always come true. Here are examples of prophecies concerning Christ only. These were predicted hundreds of years before they came true in the Old Testament. The New Testament fulfillment will be given after the prophecy. Christ was to be:

    A.  Born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14,  Matthew 1:23)
    B.  Of the seed of Abraham (Genesis 12:3,  Galatians 3:8)
    C.  Of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10,    Hebrews 7:14)
    D.  Of the lineage of David (Psalm 110:1,  Romans 1:3)
    E.  Born at Bethlehem (Micah 5:2,  Matthew 2:6)
    F.  Anointed of the Spirit (Isaiah 61:1-2,  Luke 4:18-19)
    G.  Riding into Jerusalem on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9,  Matthew 21:4-5)
    H.  Betrayed by a friend (Psalm 41:9,  John 13:18)
    I.  Sold for thirty pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12-13,  Matthew 26:15,      Matthew 27:9-10)
    J.  Pierced in hands and feet, but not to have a bone broken (Psalm      22:16, Psalm 34:20  John 19:36,   John 20:25)
    K.  Given gall and vinegar to drink by men (Psalm 69:21, Matthew 27:34)
    L.  Left without his garments, for they were to be parted and have lots      cast for his vesture (Psalm 22:18, Matthew 27:35)
    M.  Forsaken by God the Father (Psalm 22:1,  Matthew 27:46)
    N.  Buried with the Rich (Isaiah 53:9, Matthew 27:57-60)
    O.  Rising from the dead (Psalm 16:8-11,  Acts 2:27)
    P.  Ascending on High (Psalm 68:18, Ephesians 4:8)
    Q.  Sitting at the Father’s Right Hand (Psalm 110:1,  Matthew 22:43-45)

  1. The human writers of the Bible, prove the Bible is the Word of God. In all, there were over 40 different writers God used. They lived over a period of 1600 years, which covered over 60 generations. They came from all walks of life. Some were kings, peasants, philosophers, fishermen, physicians, statesmen, scholars, poets, and farmers. They wrote the Bible from different places, in different times, in different moods, from 3 continents, in 3 different languages. (From Evidence That Demands a Verdict, page 18). The interesting thing about the Bible, is that the message throughout is exactly the same. Writers tell the good and the bad, leaving nothing out. The entire book never conflicts with itself. There are many alleged errors, but a close study of the Bible with the Bible, does away with all of these. The main problem is our understanding of God’s Word, not the Bible. It is easy to see that no other book is like the Bible!
  1. We should also consider the purpose of the Bible. The Bible takes sinners lost in sin, and leads them to the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, God the Son.
